A God of justice

Blessed is the man to whom the Lord disregards his sin ! Romans 4:8

A few years ago, I was arrested for driving too fast in a speed zone, and in the courtroom, I pleaded guilty. The judge was not only friendly but embarrassed for me being in his yard. The fine was ten dollars. If he had let me go, it would have been against justice. The penalty had to be paid by me or someone else ! Judgment is compatible with love. A God of love must be a God of justice. It is because God loves that He is just. His justice balances his love and gives meaning to his acts of love and justice.

God could not always love men if he did not foresee the judgment of the wicked. His punishment for the wrongdoer and his separation from the righteous is a manifestation of God's great love. We must always look at the cross against the dark background of the judgment. It is because God’s love for man was so intense that he gave his son, so that man does not have to face judgment.

Prayer for the day

You are the supreme judge, Almighty God, and I thank you that even if I did not deserve forgiveness, my judgment was rendered by your beloved Son, Jesus Christ.
