A good conscience

Searching the Scriptures

This conscience, some have rejected, and they have wrecked in relation to faith. 1 Timothy 1.19

A father criticized severely his son who made no effort to learn his lessons but spent all his time in front of the television screen. The boy was not ashamed of it and regretted nothing, which made his father say :

- But after all, do you never listen to the voice of your conscience ?

Confused by the question, the child replied :

- I don't know, dad, what channel is it on ?

Although this is a childish response, it is very symptomatic of the times in which we live. Countless are our contemporaries who have lost all good conscience, from statesmen to the most humble citizens.

And you ? Does this also happen to you ? To put your desires, your hobbies, your dates, your interests before what is right in the eyes of God ?

As Christians we are called to set an example by walking in the righteousness of the Lord and keeping a clear conscience as the Bible recommends to us in 1 Timothy 1:19. However the flesh is weak... and having no righteousness on our part, it is also very easy for us to adopt this attitude that the world teaches. This is why it is vital that we attach ourselves to Source : Jesus Christ. Spending time with him is accessible to all of us, whether we are young or "young for a long time" !

A prayer, a thought, a grateful heart towards him... any occasion is good to feel his presence and his love invade us and renew us.

What if we fall again ? Do not panic ! He is righteous and good to forgive us and pick us up. No one has arrived but he is able to change us in his image. I invite you to read this passage in 1 Timothy 1:12-17 which is one proof, among many others, of the mercy of our Lord. What Grace !

Let us plunge our eyes into his Word in order to allow his righteousness to act in us and to align our hearts with his. It is in this way and only through him that we can keep a clear conscience, manifest his life and be examples to follow !

Listen to the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God means. Ask God to align your heart with his.

Praying is easy. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, immerse me in your river of love and let me taste your Word which refreshes my soul and let my heart be aligned with yours."

Praise God

To praise God is to show him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a moment to thank the Lord.

Act today

Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.

Honor the Lord

Our route for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Lord, in your presence I am renewed. Thank you for your love. Yours be the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !"
