A heart of child

"Let little children come to me and do not stop them ; For the kingdom of heaven is with them that are like them." Matthew 19:14

Question : Have you kept your child's heart ? Not the heart of a child who is capricious or sulky, but that of the child who marvels !

The Bible gives us several lessons from the behavior of children, for example on faith or simplicity. It is also their capacity to marvel that challenges us. Let us observe a young child in his activity ; he runs much more often than he walks because he is anxious to discover, to make new experiments; Not the time to drag his feet, he runs from wonder to wonder ; The simplest things attract his attention and captivate him ... Then comes the adolescence ; For many it is the time when nothing more of everyday life seems interesting, one is blase !

The young convert often evolves in the same way. When he comes to discover the Lord, he "devours" the Bible, which never ceases to instruct him, and also to amaze him. Each day he is surprised by new discoveries, he runs from one to the other! And then, perhaps, this wonder gradually leaves room for a certain lassitude. Yet the Lord has not changed, he is "the same yesterday, today, and eternally" (Heb 13: 8). The happy and exciting experiences he once did, he can do them again today ! God still has many blessings for him.

Of course, the young Christian has evolved since the day of his "new birth". Paul expresses it thus : "When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; When I became a man, I finished with what was characteristic of the child "(1 Cor 13:13). This normal evolution, which leads to maturity, should not, in any case, stifle this heart which marveled at all that he discovered concerning God and his Son. The Lord rejoiced in spirit and said : "I praise thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and the intelligent, and hast revealed them unto little children "(Luke 10:21). It is the only prayer of the Lord that we can make entirely ours.

May God help us to preserve our childlike heart !
