A message from heaven ?

1 Corinthians 2.2 (Living Word) - I wanted to show you that all my knowledge lay in one person: Jesus Christ, and in one fact: his death on the cross.

In April 2019, the media were marked by the fire that ravaged Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Comments have ranged from an apocalyptic judgment, to a scandal over how public finances are used, to devastated and languid Catholic Christians.

As at the time, we are not going to enter into this controversy, however we want to retain only this image. As we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord on Passover, if there is one "message from heaven" to take away, it is this image of the illuminated cross in the midst of the debris.

All religious systems, I mean all, will not subsist on this bare cross, symbol of grace but also of the power of life which emanates from God. This cross will also remain the center of possible unity between the different Christian tendencies : nothing else will be able to unite us if it is not a return to the sources.

Some cry, others laugh, others lash out, others find a certain complacency. If everyone could examine where they are in relation to this bare cross, without hiding and without looking to the neighbors, perhaps there would be some hope of awakening for this nation of France.

Good reflection.
