A new birth

All of us, too, were of their number : our conduct was dictated by the desires of our own nature, since we fulfilled the wills of human nature and our thoughts, and we were, by our very condition intended for anger, all like the others. But God, who is rich in compassion because of the great love with which he loved us, who were dead because of our sins, he brought us back to life with Christ. Ephesians 2: 3-5

It reminds me of a time when all the agonies that afflict modern minds were felt by another generation, the young people who lived in the first century after Jesus Christ. They too sought change, but they focused their efforts on individuals, not on the Roman Empire, nor on City Hall. And finally, the whole social and political structure has felt its impact. In short, these renewed men and women have been filled with a unique dynamic force.

Today, this same force is available to everyone. Over the centuries, he has worked in the lives of millions of people. I have personally seen thousands of people change. Jesus called it "a new birth". The scriptures tell us that you must not continue as you are. You can become a new person. Whatever your problems (guilt, anxiety, fear, hate), God can deal with it.

Prayer for the day

I am happy to know, Lord Jesus, that nothing in my life can be changed by your redeeming power.

Billy Graham
