A rising life

"My times are in your hand". Psalm 31. 15

"Rising Life" is the name of a Christian pensioner's club. Is a climb possible when everything seems to go down ? Yes ! The Bible agrees with this thought : "Even though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is renewed from day to day" (2 Corinthians 4:16). "Renewed from day to day", which seems to indicate a progression. It is a challenge, because the descent is visible, as well as the loss of speed, the limits, the gaps, sometimes the cohabitation with the suffering ... It is a progress towards the sky, through unknown, difficult and rich grounds .

The first important factor is time. Have we sighed enough : "When I have time !" Well ! we have it. But, honestly, what do we do with it ? In the beginning we aroused smiles by our busy tunes : "Retirement ? I can not do everything !" Things to do in fear of no longer being solicited, when free time becomes empty time! Maybe we put two hours to do what we did in an hour, maybe we sleep longer and more often, maybe we hesitate to engage in youth help parents ... And the refusals are becoming scarce. Attention, free time is a capital ! If we do not use it 100%, it will be squandered. The time budget is carefully managed between personal activities, family and social commitments, always under the gaze of God.

But how to do it ? The Lord has planned our times, our days, our years. He tells us : "Count the hours of your days !". Do we have some balance difficulties ? Ask him his wisdom : "Teach us thus to count our days, that we may obtain a wise heart" (Ps 90: 12).

The second factor is vitality, as a kind of "taste of life". Every morning, I can wake up my joy and my curiosity. But the greatest source of vitality is the intensity of the inner life : a trust in God acquired through the experience of a life, a radiant peace, devoid of passivity.

Efforts will certainly be greater than ever, but the goal is close : "Forgetting what is behind and straining with effort toward what is ahead, I run straight to the point for the price of the heavenly call of God" (Phil 3. 14).
