A roaring lion, or a scared sheep ?

In fact, Goliath was just as scared as Israel. He was taller, more robust, but he perceived a much bigger enemy, much stronger and more powerful. This is why he presented himself before Israel and went back to his tent. Even if the children of the Philistines saw him as a hero, the old men knew that something was wrong with him. They knew that if he was so strong, he would have already destroyed Israel. But Goliath was scared. He was enjoying his glory time, and he wanted to enjoy it as long as possible. He returned to his tent and received massages for a fight he had not done. Goliath was a mere mirage, a dumb dog without legs trying to bark. Goliath had not given a sword yet. He had not done any harm to anyone among the people of Israel. Not even an animal had suffered in spite of the grandeur and strength attributed to it.

The Israelites looked too much on the ground. They did not look at the one who is invisible, and that's why they were afraid. They saw the large amount of dust that had been needed to form Goliath's musculature, and they looked at their own muscles. His fame was great among the people of Israel, and it was spoken of in every house.

"Have you seen the one who challenges the troops of Israel ?" (1 Samuel 17:25) How many mirages surround us every day ! They look like lions, but they are just passing 'for a roaring lion'. They are not roaring lions, they are only ewes scared by their own shadow. I was chatting with an imposing man. He was about 60 years old, he was handsome, muscular, and he looked like he was straight out of a Western, of which he would have been the hero. But when her heart opened, in a few seconds, I realized it was a scared sheep. Frightened by her life, frightened by giants who seemed indestructible, frightened by situations he could not control. The unbelievers sometimes look like indestructible Goliath, but if we could see their heart, perceive their suffering and the pain of their heart, we would be moved with compassion towards them and tear them out of the mouth of the bear.
