A simple prayer

Searching the Scriptures

So admit your faults to one another and pray for one another to be healed. The prayer of the righteous acts with great force. James 5:16

I have learned that simple, sincere, and faith-filled prayer always attracts God's attention. Unfortunately, we often ignore this and make our prayers a big show.

When we pray we must be careful not to speak in order to impress ourselves. Sometimes I think we just want to sound eloquent. We want to impress God with our extended sentences and appear holy.

But God just wants a little conversation with us. He wants us to talk to him like we would a friend - without taking a different tone. If we don't speak particularly strong French during the day, we don't need to use that strong language when we pray. We also don't need to pray for hours.

It is good to plan our prayer times, but we should just pray until we are finished, and then go about our business until we feel the need to pray again.

The only way prayer can be satisfying is to simply use it as an opportunity to receive God's help and be involved in everything you do. He's not here to be impressed... He's here to live life with you. Don't look for performance. Just invite him to be with you.

Listen to the voice of God

Let’s take the time to listen to what God means. Come to him in all simplicity, just as you are !

Praying is easy. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Holy Spirit, don't let me make prayer a performance! I don't want to overdo it and try to impress you with my words."

Praise God

To praise God is to show him our gratitude. What are your subjects of recognition today ? Take a moment to thank the Lord.

Act today

Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.

Honor the Lord

Our route for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Thank you, Lord, for the simple prayer. Yours be the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !"
