Scripture says of the time of Moses : "Forty years you provided for their maintenance in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing, their clothes did not wear out, and their feet did not swell ... and they lived in delight by your great goodness" (Nehemiah 9: 21,25).
Do you live in the delights of God's goodness towards you ? Perhaps it is more likely that you murmur in your heart : "God has not been good to me. So many things in my life are in suspense. My prayers have not been answered."
If God could have safely crossed the desert to three million Israelites, do you doubt that He could take care of you ? Perhaps you marvel at the way He protected and provided for all the needs of Israel, but when you look at your own life, you say : "Poor of me."
Israel has never been convinced that it would be provided for all their needs if they trusted fully in God. In this respect they were not a holy people. On the contrary, they were disobedient, impudent and idolatrous. At one time, Moses even said to them : "Since I have known you, you have only taken away from God."
Yet, when these same Israelites appealed to God, He came and responded to their cry. He gave them mercy. Tell me, will not the Lord answer us, who have left behind us our idolatry and who seek Him passionately ?
Perhaps you find it hard to believe that. In the depths of you, you are not convinced that God really has everything you need and that He will give it to you. You accuse him of having all power and authority to give you what you need, but to refuse it.
It does not matter what your problem is, nor how confusing you are. If you faithfully expect Jesus, He will give you wisdom, knowledge and sufficient grace to pass through your ordeal. He has always given a path to those who faithfully trust in him. And He will do it for you.
