"A tip from the elderly"

Jeremiah replied : If I give you any advice, you will not listen to me. Jeremiah 38.15

As a pastor, I am called upon to counsel people, Christian or not, which is not always easy to do.

One day a young man came to ask me for advice. He had started a relationship with a girl. To save money, he wanted to end his rental of an apartment to integrate that of his friend. In unison with others consulted, I advised him against doing so, even though his financial situation was worrying at the time. A few weeks later, I see him again, all joyful. He hadn't listened to my advice and found his situation happy. But then one day he calls me: the relationship is broken and his friend has put her things in the lobby. He took refuge with a friend just for one night... He became homeless. Since he didn't know where to go, I found a temporary solution for him.

In another interview, we came back to the advice I had given him. He said to me : “I thought it was pastor's or old man's advice, but you were right !"

It's amazing how many people seek advice - and that's good - but ignore it. They are only looking for approval of what they want !

Have you been asking for advice lately ? Or have you prayed to God to enlighten you on your choices through His Word ? Do you also think that the answers given are from another age ? If so, could you reconsider them and come back to your idea ?
