A treasure in the Bahamas

Marc-Philippe had known only misery and mourning in Haiti, his country of origin. He had come to earn a living in the Bahamas, serving wealthy families. Shamelessly exploited, he lived in a very fragile wooden building, in this extremely rich country...

At the end of summer 2019, Hurricane Dorian with its tornadoes at more than 300 km per hour swept everything in its path, transforming this dream archipelago into a land of desolation. His house had vanished, Marc-Philippe fled to a church. But the religious edifice in turn disintegrated under the force of the elements. So Marc-Philippe fled again, swimming for 5 hours without seeing it, with the only property he had taken from home : his Bible, wrapped in plastic. (story taken from "Paris Match")

Why had Marc-Philippe taken the time to pack his Bible and take it away, despite the threat of the hurricane ? Why didn't he drop his Bible into the water to be freer to swim ? Did the Bible have to be important to this man for him to take so much care of it ! To believe that it was what he had most precious, his only treasure !

In the Bible, it is the words of God that we find. They reveal to us the means that God gives to man to save his soul from the evil which carries him to perdition. The Savior is Jesus, the Son of God, who died and rose for us. Based on his work, he has the power to deliver us if we believe him. Faith is grabbing his outstretched hand. Yes, the Bible is the believer's treasure !
