"A wonderful bargain"

"Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his great mercy, has regenerated us, for a living hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, for an inheritance that can not be neither to corrupt, nor to defile, nor to wither, which is reserved for you in heaven." 1 Peter 1.3-4

Danish actor Helmut Larsen was visiting New York when a heavy shower of rain occurred. He entered a church on 8th Avenue just as a burial was taking place. At the end of the service, he was asked to write his name and address on the register, which he did very willingly. A few days later, he received an unexpected letter from a notary : she told him that the deceased, a multimillionaire, had decided to share his fortune among all those who attended his funeral. And so Larsen became an heir in spite of himself. This unexpected legacy greatly enhanced his career.

"God will wipe away every tear from their eyes..."

Everyone can receive, if he has not yet received it, a part of an inheritance infinitely more precious and of another order : that which derives from the fact that the son of the creator God of the universe died for us in Golgotha.

For God desires all men to turn from darkness to light, and to be delivered from the power of Satan and to receive forgiveness for their sins. There is an inheritance in heaven for all who belong to it. (Acts 20.32)

This is what awaits us : "He who sits on the throne will pitch his tent on them, they will not be hungry, they will not be thirsty, and the sun will not strike them, nor any heat. who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them to the fountains of the waters of life, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." (Revelation 7.16-17)

A prayer for today

Lord, thank you for being revealed to me and thank you because one day I will be with you forever. I pray for all those who do not know you, so that they too can receive this part of divine inheritance, accepting Jesus as a savior in their life. Amen !
