A word from Jesus

A deep despair and deep anguish can strike Jesus, because of those to whom He holds very strong.

Mary and Martha had put aside their trust in Him after their brother Lazarus had fallen ill and died (see John 11: 20-21). The house of Jairus had put aside their trust also. They all accused Jesus of coming too late and of not caring (see Mark 5:35).

Yet all that was needed was a simple word from Him : "Arise !" And everything changed in an instant. That's all it takes with the Lord. He utters a word and suddenly everything is transformed. Satan must release his grip, death runs away, life springs up and the promises of Heaven erupt everywhere.

Beloved, no matter what you go through, all that the Lord has to do is to utter a single word and the demons are scattered. The creation trembles. Suddenly, the answer you were looking for is right in front of you. Then you wonder why the Lord has not yet answered you. Why does your suffering continue ? Why is the situation so desperate for some of the most holy people ?

All I know is that in such moments of crisis, the people of God can either grow in confidence, or backtrack and put aside all trust. "If he withdraws, my soul does not take pleasure in him. We are not of those who withdraw to lose themselves, but of those who have faith to save their souls "(Hebrews 10: 38-39).

The Lord is determined to strip us of all trust in the flesh, leaving us with total confidence in Him.
