About balance sheet
"A man can work with wisdom, skill and success, and he must leave the product of his labor to a man who has taken no trouble for it." Ecclesiastes 2. 21
In business, we talk about a final balance sheet or statement of net profits that justify or not the investments made in the past. So it is with our life. This is a truth you must accept, before the day someone signs your death certificate, and flowers are laid on your grave. If you have lived only for yourself, without fulfilling the destiny that God intended for your life, the final balance will not justify any investment. Solomon wrote : “I have come to despair because of all the trouble I have taken under the sun. Indeed, a man can work with wisdom, skill and success, and he must leave the product of his labor to a man who has taken no trouble for it. This too is smoke and it is a great misfortune” (Ecclesiastes 2. 20-21). Or as the writer John Capozzi humorously puts it : “The businessman who works like a maniac from 7 in the morning until 7 in the evening, 7 days a week will probably be successful. And, after his death, his wife's future husband will probably remember him with some... tenderness !” A day will come when everything you fought for in life will no longer matter. Your CV and your qualifications will no longer make an impression on anyone. If you listen to the voice of wisdom, you will ensure that the final balance sheet of your life includes three things :
1- the satisfaction of knowing that you have accomplished the plan that God had drawn up for your life here below.
2- success or self-fulfillment which is measured in eternal rewards and not in temporary material success.
3- peace and trust that are based on the fact that Jesus Christ is your Savior and your Lord. This is the only "final balance sheet" you should wish for at the end of your earthly life !
