About credo (1)

"Undoubtedly, the mystery of godliness is great: God was manifested in the flesh, was justified in the Spirit, was seen from the angels, was preached among the nations, was believed in the world, Glory. "1 Timothy 3. 16

 
During the history of Christianity, several creeds (from the Latin "I believe") have been affirmed, often over several centuries, to respond to various heresies or to deal with situations that disturbed Christians. Many believers refuse to establish a creed, not because everyone is free to believe what he wants, but because that approach never leads to a satisfactory result.
The creeds, even drafted by spiritual believers, remain human compositions, so often tainted with errors and all incomplete. Indeed, how to summarize the Christian faith in some lapidary formulas ? The Spirit of God gave us four gospels to introduce Jesus Christ, many epistles to establish the Christian doctrine, and all the Old Testament to prepare for the coming of Christ and bring us to Him. The truth can not be summarized in a single document, let alone in a few lines.
The Bible contains no creed but affirmations of faith to illustrate the truth in a living way :
- Realizing that the Lord knew all things about him, Nathanael exclaimed : "Rabbi, you are the Son of God ; You are the king of Israel "(John 1:50).
To the Lord's question : "Who am I to say of men, I, the Son of man ?" Peter answers : "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16: 16).
- When eight days after his resurrection, Jesus meets Thomas who had doubted, this disciple exclaims : "My Lord and my God" (John 20:28).
In these examples the affirmation of faith is spontaneous ; It is the expression of a conviction born of personal experience, a work of God in the soul, not adherence to a formula.
Question : What do we believe about the Bible, God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), man and his nature, present and eternal salvation, perdition, church, Return of Christ to seek us ... ? By specifying what we believe, we will have a greater desire to live our faith saying, "I know who I believed" (2 Tim 1: 12).
