About credo (2)

"All Scripture is inspired by God, and useful to teach, to convince, to correct, to instruct in righteousness, that the man of God may be accomplished and perfectly prepared for all good works." 2 Timothy 3:16, 17

Yesterday we saw that wanting to establish a creed never leads to a satisfactory result. This does not mean that everyone is free to believe what he wants !
Among the fundamental points of "the truth of the gospel" (Galatians 2: 5, 14) made known to us by Jesus, the Son of God, we can quote incompletely :
- The eternal power and divinity of God (see Rom. 1:20), creator of the heavens and the earth, and of all that exists.
- God is one, revealed in three persons : Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ is the Son of God, God blessed eternally, incarnated in a man born without sin of the virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- The perfect life of Jesus Christ, his death on the cross to atone for our sins, his resurrection from the dead, his elevation to heaven. - The responsibility of every man before God : all have sinned and deserve condemnation. - The love of God to all men and the gift of his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to be their Savior.
- The forgiveness of sins and eternal life offered gratuitously to one who believes in the Lord Jesus ; The eternal condemnation of the one who does not believe.
- The new birth and everyday life by faith.
- The descent of the Holy Spirit on earth after the ascension of Christ, to form the Church.
- The Church (or the Assembly) is composed of all born-again Christians. They are united to Jesus Christ in one body by the Holy Spirit, as members of the body at the head.
- Locally, Christians gather in the name of the Lord Jesus, acknowledge His authority and submit to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and not to that of one man only.
- The gifts of the Holy Spirit and his action for the edification, growth of the body of Christ.
- The expectation of the Lord Jesus who will come to resurrect the believers already dead, change the body of living believers and take them together in heaven with him.
- The coming reign of Christ on earth and the final judgment of the living and the dead who have not believed.
