About humility !

Ephesians 4.2 - with all humility and meekness...

I find there is a lot of confusion when it comes to humility. We tend to believe that it manifests itself in outward gestures, yet I have seen some "kick-ass" or "sham" behaviors that were rooted in disproportionate pride.

Humility is also not a feeling of inferiority, blind subordination, or overwhelming submission. In fact humility is knowing who we are in God and what is our sphere of authority and our sphere of submission, for my beloved, we are all faced with exercising authority at certain times and the obedience to others. One does not go without the other and in God, the more we are obedient, the more He will clothe us with authority and let us be well aware that exercising the authority that God has given us is not a lack of 'humility.

Let me take an example : if you are not a handyman and you have a water leak, you will call a plumber. You will submit to his skills and even pay him for it. Imagine that when this one arrives, you say to him : "I have a water leak, so you will make the repair in such and such a way...". One day I received a very strong Word on my heart : "It is not the carpenter who has to tell the cabinetmaker how to make his furniture !".

Yet both work with wood ! In the household and in the community, it is the same thing. Humility will teach me to know my own skills but also my own limits, of whom I am the extension and who is my extension.

Humility will also teach me to trust in the potential of the other, it will bring down all competition, all animosity and all envy. When we are aware of our identity in Christ, we don't need to compete or dominate, nor do we feel overwhelmed.

I leave you with this promise : "Humility precedes glory" (Proverbs 18:12).
