About interruption !

“Many rebuked him to silence him, but he shouted much louder : “Son of David, have mercy on me !” Jesus stopped and said : "Call on him." Mark 10. 48,49

He was a blind beggar named Bartimaeus, squatting outside Jericho on the road to Jerusalem. Jesus was heading towards this city, accompanied by His disciples to whom He had just explained that they were going up to Jerusalem where He was to be humiliated before being put to death by the Romans. He also told them that three days later He would rise again. Knowing that in a short time His destiny would be fulfilled at the cost of excruciating suffering, one can imagine that He had a heavy heart and a mind occupied with what awaited Him. His death on Golgotha was arguably the most important event in human history since creation. Moreover, the crowds still thronged to hear Him speak and tell them parables. Even Herod wanted to see Jesus, hoping to witness a small miracle. And yet Jesus stops His walk when He hears a voice calling out to Him. He who was the long-awaited Savior, who was going to carry the sins of all humanity on His shoulders takes the time to listen to a man without any social status, a simple blind beggar, without a future and without much value in this society. Yet Jesus allows himself to be interrupted in the pursuit of His destiny to attend to the needs of an unimportant man. What would you have said in Jesus' place ? Maybe something like “I have no time to waste. I am on my way to Jerusalem where I must save the world.” Instead, Jesus asks that Bartimaeus be brought before Him. An insignificant interruption, but one that will transform this man's life. If God interrupts our plans, would it be because He has a very special appointment arranged for us ? Shouldn't we pray : "Lord, here are the plans I have for my day. But if you interrupt them, help me to accept this change as Your will and to accomplish the task that you will give me soon !”
