Accept to receive the strength of God in you !

“I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not forsake you, I will not forsake you” Joshua 1. 5

Joshua had walked in Moses' footsteps for a long time, and knew what an extraordinary journey his had been. Taking back his staff after the great leader's death must have intimidated him. So God repeatedly encouraged him, assuring him that His power would accompany him as it had been with Moses. The success of the latter was due to the constant divine presence. God assured Joshua that he too would be successful because of His power expressed through him. He only asked him to trust Him and believe that He would accomplish what He had promised. He's asking exactly the same thing of us today. His infinite power is within our reach, if we will only believe in His promises. We will not conquer by our efforts, our talents or our tenacity, but by His Spirit (Zechariah 4.6). Recognizing our intrinsic weakness leaves the field open to His power within us. And allows us to affirm that we are strong through Him. The Bible says : "Let the weak say, I am strong !" (Joël 4.10). Paul thus declared : “I can do anything through him who strengthens me, Christ” (Philippians 4:13). Even if we don't feel strong at one point, that doesn't mean we won't be strong the day we need His strength. Just as His compassion is renewed every day, He does not give us today the strength that we will need tomorrow. So let's not give in to discouragement when we encounter financial difficulties, a poor health diagnosis, family problems... etc. At the opportune moment His presence will be felt by our side. Trusting Him and believing in His promise to never forsake us is all we need today.
