Accept yourself as God sees you
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22. 39
Only if you can love yourself in a right and healthy way, can you love others as God intended. If you are unable to appreciate yourself, you will live in constant insecurity and constantly seek the approval of others. And if you don't get it, whatever little self-esteem you may still have will crumble away and you'll end up living way below your true potential. You can never escape yourself, so you will remain miserable if you don't learn to accept yourself as you are ! Think for a minute : how did you feel when one day you found yourself alone with the person you most wanted to avoid ? Did it go well ? What if you were that person ? Remember that the thoughts and feelings you have about yourself, whether positive or negative, you also project onto others! If you want people to think well of you, start by having a good opinion of yourself, an opinion based on the Word of God and nourished by healthy relationships. Of course, the Bible warns us against thinking too highly of ourselves. But let's not go to the other extreme ! Living without self-esteem is an open door, an invitation to Satan, who “prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). Refuse to play his game ! Paul wrote : “I know that good dwells not in me, that is, in me, weak and sinful, that I am” (Romans 7:18). This means that the qualities you possess are actually the fruit of God's work in your life. The Bible says : “We carry this treasure in earthen vessels, so that this higher power may be attributed to God, and not to us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). Instead of focusing on your flaws and looking down on yourself, recognize the “treasure” of God's presence, power, and divine potential that dwell within you, and then build your life on that basis.
