According to the heart of God !
Psalms 139:4-6 - The word has not yet reached my lips, that you already know everything that I am going to say. You are behind me, in front too, you put your hand on me. That you know me at this point is too wonderful for me, and beyond anything I can comprehend.
Such a bond makes us want, doesn't it ?
You have to put it in context, David didn't have the Bible, just some Old Testament writings. He also did not have the spiritual gifts we know today. Yet here he reveals an intimacy with God that few of us experience.
I am convinced that this intimacy arose in his long moments of solitude when he looked after his father's flock of sheep. Such an intensity in the knowledge of God is not obtained in "two taps of the spoon", it is necessary to take time to meditate on the Lord but also to let yourself be penetrated by His presence. We now understand better that David was a man "according to the heart of God”.
The more I understand God, the more I am convinced that He deeply enjoys these moments of intimacy with us. We often think that He loves what we do, that He is proud of our works, and we spend a lot of time making plans and strategies. As I read David's experience, I realize that He loves us, for who we are, not for what we do.
We have become accustomed to "deserving" things, such love is undeserved, we are unsettled when it reaches us. We hardly accept what is free, we are always looking for the catch. Can God know me so well and love me that way ? Yes ! The answer is a thousand times yes !
Good meditation.
