All about...

3 John 1.9 - I wrote a few words to the Church ; but Diotrephes, who likes to be the first among them, does not receive us.

It has become fashionable to "denounce" servants of God on the Internet ! The motivation announced is always a “search” for the truth, the truth which sets free (John 8:32), bringing to light the “works hidden in the darkness” of these servants, accused of being henchmen of Satan, as if knowing the truth about the lives of others set us free.

We are sufficiently "disturbed" by these practices to devote a thought to them. The important thing for us is not whether the "revelations" made are correct or pure fantasy, but the question is : is it appropriate for a child of God to do so ?

If we look at the example of the apostles, they did not do so. The only times, and our text refers to it, where they denounced a bad work by naming the person, it was in a personal letter that John sent to Gaius. Paul was ready to “clash” with the pseudo-ministries, but it was face to face (1 Corinthians 4:19 and 20). He certainly denounced the drifts but never dragging anyone in the mud.

Also my beloved, let us be careful in front of this kind of attitude! The danger is that we are carried away by bitter zeal and contention (James 3:14). Who made us judges ? Paul tells us, "Who are you, you who judge a servant of others ? If he is standing, or if he falls, it is his master's business. But he will stand, for the Lord has power to establish him" (Romans 14.4).

At the risk of embarrassing some, we cannot do just anything in the name of "truth" ! The truth is the Lord Jesus Himself, did He ever say that Anna and Caiaphas, the high priests, were henchmen of Satan ? Ah, if we could draw inspiration from his example !
