Am I selfish ?

"Jesus said to them : Go into the whole world and preach the gospel to all creation." Mark 16. 15

"You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Acts 1: 8

To come to Jesus with repentance, to confess his sins, to recognize his state of perdition and to accept with joy and gratitude the salvation that he offers : it is the key to a human life fulfilled. A wonderful future then opens up, with the hope of eternal life in perfect happiness, in the presence of the Savior and Lord. The heart is filled with joy and earthly life changes its goal, for Jesus becomes the center of this life and gives the direction to follow, it guides us on a new road !

Any child of God can say : I have lived this a little and I now rejoice in this hope. He should immediately ask himself : Will I be selfish ? Can I keep this happiness for myself ? Do not those around me have a right to know such joy ?

Every day I meet people who go to an eternity of misfortune, while I go to an eternity of happiness. I have no right to be selfish and to keep this wonderful gift for me ; My Savior offered it to me and now he asks me to share it by announcing the Gospel (verses of the day). It is his desire today : "Our Savior God wants all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth" (2 Tim. 2. 4). Do I want to achieve the same goal ? Or do I keep silent, selfishly keeping this gift for me ?

God does not obligatorily send me to the ends of the world or to the public squares to announce his Word ... Around me, there are already so many opportunities, with my neighbors, my colleagues of activity, my acquaintances ... I pretend to love ! I may be shy, so God wants to give me that boldness that dwelt in the first witnesses of the rising Christianity.

Lord, give me not to be "ashamed of the gospel" (Rom.1: 16), not to be selfish, give me the courage to proclaim around me the good news of salvation !
