I was jealous of the boastful seeing the well-being of the wicked. Psalm 73. 3
God will always be the rock of my heart and my good part. Psalm 73. 26
An enigma solved - Proposed reading : Psalm 73
How hard it is to get up every morning in the face of the same ordeal ! How hard it is to start the day without knowing if we will end it, so great is the suffering ! How hard it is to end a day in bitterness comparing your suffering to the recklessness of those who willfully ignore God, and for whom everything seems to be going well, as Asaph writes in Psalm 73 : "Always quiet, they increase their wealth".
While in pain, Asaph expresses his disappointment : "It is therefore for nothing that I purified my heart". In my agitation, he compares his situation to that of unbelievers who seem happy. He finds no explanation, until the day he decides to entrust his suffering to God.
Then the light bursts forth, his torments of mind vanish. His conscience awakens : he understands that the prosperity of the "wicked" is his loss, and that nothing will remain from his successes. Even more, he finds that God seized him by the hand, he, Asaph, to lead him close to him, into his presence. He is even astonished to have believed himself so unhappy, whereas he had the privilege to be with God. What change ! we will say. No and yes !
No, because the ordeal has not disappeared, it is still present: her body and her heart are exhausted.
Yes, because he puts his trust in divine strength, wisdom and grace. Yes, because living near God is his happiness, and he can praise it without reservation.
