An irreproachable thrifty !

Titus 1.7 - For the bishop must be blameless, as God's steward...

We have already spoken to you about the gift of Mary, a gift reserved for the Lord Jesus and not for her brother, nor for the poor. I would like to discuss today the management of the finances which is entrusted to us, the servants of God.

A European community was using donations made for the mission in Africa to repair their church building in Europe, because they had financial concerns. This community was getting poorer and poorer and its finances were soaring. Eventually, she risked losing her building, until those in charge repented about it.

Imagine that the apostle Paul used part of the fundraising made for the poor of Jerusalem for his personal needs ! Unfortunately, there are times when the offering of God's people is used for purposes other than what it was given. Sooner or later the Lord will test our faithfulness in this area. How many servants have fallen because they were not blameless in this regard ?

It is increasingly difficult for the children of God to give away their goods. We can of course teach about obedience in this area, but shouldn't we also repent for the “abuses” committed against them, whether ours or those of other servants of God ?

My beloved, servants of God, let us be very careful in the management of what is entrusted to us. Let us not take what is given to God, that would be a grave offense. When the children of God give us an offering, let us ask the question of what is on their hearts : is it for the work, is it for the mission, is it for the ministry, is it for the personal needs of the servant... ? Let us not take the risk of grabbing what is reserved for the Lord !
