An unexpected supply !
God can fill you with all his graces. 2 Corinthians 9.8
The wisdom of God and that of men are far apart. Thus, God provides for the needs of his children in his own way, which often brings surprises in store for us.
In pioneer days, in the United States, an old soldier walks through a village. He knocks on the door of a house to ask for bread. The man who opens it notices that he is wearing a leather case hanging from his neck.
- What's wrong with you, my friend ?
- A lucky charm given to me when I left the military.
- Let me see that...
He opens it and pulls out a crumpled piece of paper that he cannot read. He hands it to his interlocutor who cannot believe it.
- Well, this is your certificate of release from the Federal Army, signed by General George Washington himself ! It gives you the right to a pension for life !
"God provides for the needs of his children in his own way !"
Dismayed, the old soldier realizes that for nearly 30 years he carried with him the promise of an annuity that would have covered all his needs... If he had claimed it, he would not have been poor. and forced to beg !
Incredible story, but true, which resembles that of many Christians. God made promises to us ; he puts his spiritual riches at our disposal and we are content with a mediocre life, while God's provisions remain unused !
Let us not forget that God has put his resources (his Word, his peace, his joy, his family) within our reach, thanks to the work of Jesus Christ. Let us take hold of the promises of God's Word every day to sustain and strengthen our faith.
A prayer for today
Lord, open my eyes so that I can discover your kindness to me. May I never doubt that you are the only one who can take care of me in the best possible way.
