"Do not give up your assurance, to which is paid a great remuneration" (Hebrews 10:35).
If you are a Christian, you are in the middle of a fierce war. In fact, you are in the middle of a battle to death for your faith. Satan is determined to sink and destroy the faith of all God's elect. The stronger your faith, the greater will be its attack against it.
You see, an unshakeable faith in the Lord puts hell in black anger. Nothing is a greater threat to the kingdom of Satan than a Christian who is unshakeable in his faith. Why ? Because it is by faith and power that it emanates that the kingdom of Satan is contained. By faith, righteousness is born and the demonic fires are extinguished. The promises of God are obtained and the mouths of the lions are closed.
The Apostle Peter experienced a fierce attack on his faith. His trust in Jesus was so enraged by the hell that Satan asked permission to sift him to see if he could stand firm : "Simon, Simon, Satan has called you, to sift you like wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail ; and thou, when thou shalt be converted, strengthen thy brethren" (Luke 22: 31-32).
God has given us a powerful weapon that we can use against Satan's attacks on our faith. We must not try to understand everything. Rather, we must fix our eyes on "the great cloud of witnesses" who are already in glory and who have achieved it with their faith intact. (Hebrews 12: 1).
What picture. This verse describes an army of victorious saints, of all ages, watching us vigilantly, like a crowd in the stands. They wear crowns of justice and waving palms while they encourage us in our race : "Run with patience ! We struggled until death and we did not fall. God kept us and our faith prevailed. We relied on the truth : we won! We are winners. Then continue. You can win in difficult times."
