Are you reachable ?
He wakes up my ear to listen like disciples do. Isaiah 50: 4
To make his teaching understood, the Lord Jesus very often took as images everyday objects used among his people.
Today, the cell phone can help us let ourselves be challenged by this important question : “Can God reach me ?”, In other words : “Can I receive messages from God ?”.
Several scenarios arise :
My laptop is turned off and I rarely check the voicemail ; I am hardly reachable. The Bible, which I do have, is hardly ever consulted ! I have little interest in his messages, God cannot freely speak to me.
My cell phone is switched off and I check the voicemail irregularly. I obviously have an interest in God's messages, but I don't get them at the right time.
My laptop is on, but I haven't recharged the battery. I no longer receive a message and I cannot send any more. I open my Bible tightly, but I no longer have the spiritual energy to hear God's messages, nor to speak to him in prayer.
My cell phone rings but, due to lack of vigilance, I misplaced it. I cannot pick up the message sent to me. For several days, I have not known where my Bible is. God can no longer reach me.
My laptop is securely in place. The bell is warning me. I immediately pick up the message. I know where my Bible is, better still, I have many verses in memory. In such a circumstance, I immediately hear God's personal message to warn me of danger, to reassure me, to console me, to direct me, to instruct me, to make me intelligent.
I also know that at any time I can send a message to my God. He is always reachable.
