At the time of the test

“My beloved, do not be surprised at the furnace that is raging among you to test you, as if something strange is happening to you.” 1 Peter 4:12

Do you remember those professors who took pleasure in warning you, at the start of each term, of the possibility of impromptu tests ? Maybe you hated the idea of ​​these “surprises”, but at least you knew you had to always be ready to answer questions and hand in your homework on the appointed day. Knowing that these tests were going to happen one day or another, there was no way you could justify your ignorance ! God acts the same way. His Word tells us : “Do not be surprised that you have to suffer hours of testing...” God does not always impose on us what we expected or when we planned, for He usually tests us in areas where we are the most vulnerable. Remember, tests are not meant to be fun for the teacher, but for the benefit of the students ! The trials of life are there to harden us and develop us spiritually. On the day the ordeal strikes, you have the choice between

1- behave like a victim, complain about having to endure it and being treated unfairly in this way or

2- accept the lesson it brings you by allowing you to better know yourself and the God you claim to serve. Are you used to working out in a gym ? The equipment available there is used to measure your strength and resistance. What would it do if you'd rather watch it from a distance without using it ? Their goal is to make you stronger. Encouragement in closing : God will never impose more on you than you can bear, will never force you to take a test that you cannot pass, will never overwhelm you with a test that you cannot overcome. His Word affirms : “God is faithful, and he will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength ; but with temptation he will also prepare the way out so that you can endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13). His Word to you today is : “Do not be surprised ! Prepare yourself, because the test can fall on you at any time !"
