Avoidance prohibited !
“If he probes you, will he approve of you ? Or are you cheating on him like a man is cheated ?" Job 13.9
The French have a very special reputation when it comes to the law; an attitude that their Swiss or German neighbors do not understand! For the French, circumvention of the law is a national sport. As soon as a law is passed and the legislator tries to enforce it, Mr. Dupont looks for and finds how to get through it and play around with the loopholes. Example : a law prohibits large commercial brands from increasing their sales area in order to preserve small businesses. But these large brands are increasing the number of Drives, these spaces where the customer comes to pick up his orders, because these sales areas are not counted as commercial square meters. A magazine, chronicling this practice, headlined : “Entrepreneurs, how to play with the law” and developed its article in these terms : “Bypassing certain standards and regulations in force does not mean falling into illegality. There are clever ways to do this.” This type of juggling is not an option for a Christian with the laws of God. According to the Bible, anything that is not forbidden is not allowed ! Thus, if the faults are condemned, the virtues are ordered. Of course, evil is forbidden, but its opposite - namely good - is demanded. When God forbids something, He automatically commands its opposite. What to say ? That if God orders not to kill, not to kill is not enough. The commandment implies that we must do everything to help the life of our neighbor, and its extension. Likewise, if God wants us to love Him, this formally prohibits any other devotion, even any friendship or indulgence for another god or for any idol. God cannot accept personal adjustments to His laws and requirements. Make no mistake, we are not making fun of Him.
