Be humble !

"He must grow and I must decrease." John 3.30

The Bible describes God's calling as “a high calling” (Philippians 3:14). And yet the more the vocation to which God calls you lifts you up on the stage of the world, the more you must adopt an attitude of humility. All the honors that will be returned to you must be returned to God ! Jesus said of John the Baptist : “No prophet is greater than John the Baptist” (Luke 7. 28). John the Baptist cried out : "He must grow and I must decrease." The day God called Ezekiel to become His prophet, he felt so incapable that he fell face down on the ground and God had to say to him : “Stand on your feet and I will speak to you” (Ezekiel 2.1). A beautiful lesson in humility ! We do not know exactly what the “thorn” of Paul's life was, but we do know why he suffered from it : “And so that I may not be filled with pride, because of the extraordinary revelations, I have received a thorn in the body, an angel of Satan to strike me down and prevent me from being proud” (2 Corinthians 12.7). Splinters can take many forms. God adjusts them to our personality and our needs ! Your thorn could be a particularly turbulent child, a drifting marriage, a bad habit that you cannot break or a physical birth defect... that's all that can humiliate you as soon as others want to place you on it a pedestal. This is what will allow you to accept compliments without letting yourself be overwhelmed by a sense of arrogance. Paul also wrote : “I am not saying that we are able, on our own, to conceive of something as if it came from us. Our ability, on the contrary, comes from God” (2 Corinthians 3.5). If we succeed in manifesting the Kingdom of God on this earth, it is only with His help. This is why He allows us to feel so incapable of accomplishing anything worthwhile, so that our need for help will cause us to lean on Him. Our pride sometimes finds it very difficult to accept this truth ! But when we finally accept it, our service suddenly bears fruit.
