In Mexico, evangelical Christians are victims of Catholic persecution (Catholics account for 70% of the population).
In other countries, such as Peru and Colombia, Christians are victims of politicized and instrumentalized guerrillas and paramilitary groups.
Algeria, when it has adopted a text to regulate religious practices. In this text, we read that anyone who "incites, compels, or uses means of seduction to convert a Muslim to another religion incurs a sentence of two to five years in prison." Same sanction provided for anyone who undermines the Muslim faith "through" printed materials, audiovisual documents or any other medium".
But blessed be God, Jesus promised to give us power not only to evangelize but also to be able to endure suffering. He said : "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judaea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1: 8).
The Greek word that has been translated into French as "témoin" is the word "martus" which also means martyrdom. Thus, Jesus promised to give us the power necessary for us to be able to suffer for his cause.
The Bible says : "For the rest, all who want to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted" (2 Timothy 3:12).
Let's not be afraid and take advantage of our freedom to talk about Jesus around us !
