Be role models for our children
Searching the Scriptures
Forgive each other as God has forgiven us in Christ. Ephesians 4:32
One mom tells this story that all parents should read and ponder :
"One day, an argument between my husband and I ended with screaming. I took refuge on the veranda and, my head in my hands, I cried. Our 2 year old daughter had heard the screams. She had heard the screams. came to sit next to me, gave me a hug and said : “I love you, mom.” I said : “Me too, I love you.” She put her down. head on my shoulder and added : "It would be nice if you loved daddy too."
It's like my heart has been ripped out ! I sobbed : "But I love your daddy, we were just having a disagreement." So my daughter smiled, got up, ran away and shouted : "I'll quickly tell daddy that you love him."
If your children are witnesses to your anger, make sure they are also present as you extend your grace and forgiveness to others. Teach them to resolve conflicts without being aggressive. Show them that a difference of opinion can lead to a favorable decision for the other, that you can be wrong and still be respected and loved.
Often times you will have to teach them what you have never been taught. If so, learn from your parents' mistakes and pass the lesson on to your children.
Forgive when you have been hurt and do not lie down with bitterness in your heart (Ephesians 4:26). Jesus asks us to forgive "so that your heavenly Father may also forgive you your faults" (Mark 11:25).
Parents, remember : your children are watching you !
Listen to the voice of God
Let’s take the time to listen to what God means. Let God, the Father, transmit his teachings to you so that you in turn can disseminate them to your children and loved ones.
Praying is easy. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, help me to be a model of humility, grace and love for all those around me, as you are."
Praise God
To praise God is to show him our gratitude. What are your subjects of recognition today ? Take a time to thank the Lord.
Act today
Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.
Honor the Lord
Our route for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.
"Thank you, Lord, for having granted me your forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus. In turn, I want to show your grace to those with whom I am near. Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !"
