"Be sober, watch your adversary, the devil, prowling like a roaring lion, seeking who he will devour." 1 Peter 5.8
When I was a child, it was common for people to be in the dark at home for lack of money to pay for electricity. So, to meet the needs of light we used to enlighten ourselves with candles.
Examine yourself from the word of God, to see if there is anything in you that the devil could use to hurt you.
One night, one of her whom we had forgotten to put out fell to the ground and set the salon on fire. A few minutes later, it was a disaster ! The fire was declared and there was nothing left to do but leave the apartment to save our lives.
This is a typical example of what lack of vigilance can produce as dramatic consequences. It is the same for our everyday life, where God invites us to open our eyes to certain realities of this world.
To the disciples, Jesus Christ will make this declaration. "The ruler of this world is already on the move (against me), but he has no hold on me." John 14.30
The warning is made and the alert sounds again. Although you do not have to fear it, the enemy will come, he will examine your life, in order to find there a favorable ground to launch an attack there. It is therefore essential to take the time to examine yourself with regard to the word of God, in order to see if there is anything in you that he could use to hurt you.
"We know, moreover, that no child of God, born again, lives in sin, the Son of God has taken care of him, and he keeps it. So the devil has no taken on him." 1 John 5:18
