Between certainties an uncertainties

"I am assured that neither death nor life ... can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8: 38-39

"So I hope to send [Timothy] as soon as I see the turn of my affairs." Philippians 2:23

We who believe the Word of God have certainties :

- "We know that the Son of God has come" (1 John 5:20).

- "You know that [the Son of God] was manifested so that he would take away our sins" (1 John 3: 5).

- "I write to you these things that you may know that you have eternal life, you who believe in the name of the Son of God" (1 John 5:13).

- "We know that when it is manifested we shall be like it" (1 John 3: 2).

Yet we live our daily lives amidst constant and multiple uncertainties.

- Property

The apostle Paul spoke of the "uncertainty of wealth" (1 Timothy 6:17), for material riches offer only an appearance of security. I am anxious to see what turn my business will take : the company where I work goes wrong, can I keep my place ? Will I be able to find work again ? Successfully complete this review ? Will my livestock escape the epidemic ? Will I be able to pay my bills this month ?

- Family, health, church

Will my child recover from his serious illness ? Will this teenager come back from his wrong path ? Will I finally find a spouse ? What will be my resources in my old age? Will the small gathering of believers in the locality where I live will continue ?

- The society

Will not the agitation of my neighborhood degenerate ? The political and economic situation in my country is deteriorating, everything becomes explosive. Should I flee conflict zones ?

These uncertainties, and many others, are not the result of the imagination, and all who pass through them know what tensions they can provoke in us. We are therefore happy to be able to bring uncertainties, questions and anxieties to God every day. After all, he has all power over the circumstances of our lives ; Nothing is uncertain for God.

This is why we advance with certainties firmly anchored in the soul, in the midst of the uncertainties of life and in spite of the fragility of our human condition.
