Beyond the World Cup

"You are part of the people of God, God has chosen you and He loves you." Colossians 3.12

The Football World Cup in Russia is in full swing. Before it started, I followed live the announcement of the players elected to be part of the France team. Some were sure of being chosen as the team's indisputable leaders, but I could not help but think of others. To those who were competing for a particular job. At the announcement of their names, I imagined them jumping for joy and running like children in their house. At least, that's how I would have reacted in their place !

"I'm part of God's team, a victorious team that will never lose !"

Representing a country at a World Cup or at the Olympic Games is an extraordinary thing that only those who have experienced it can understand. However, this joy is nothing compared to knowing that we have been chosen by God. Yes, we are part of his team (his people) and we can run the heavenly race greatly advantaged because Jesus is the captain of the team. "With him, we remain winners and we go from victory to victory." (Romans 8:37)

We can run our race also by proclaiming that "if God so places on our side, who can stand against us ?" (Romans 8.31) Yes, victory is assured !

Yes, I am not a believer who is part of a mundane team. I am an envoy of Jesus, part of his team of ambassadors, with the mission to bring the most extraordinary message to the world.

Yes, I am an ambassador of the celestial kingdom, and I will step out of my comfort zone to love people and to announce to them the message of salvation with this powerful encouragement from God Himself : "Do not be afraid, but speak and do not be silent, for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, because I have many people in this city. " (Acts 18.9-10).

Yes "many people" that God chose to belong to him. (Colossians 3:12)

A prayer for today

My God, I confess that you chose me and that I am not a mistake. Parents may reject or not want a child, but behind the scenes of heaven, it is you Father who creates us and chooses us to be yours. I confess that I was chosen not only to put on your holiness, but also to become your representative and to speak of your love and grace to others. I'm part of God's team, a victorious team that will never lose !
