Burn the Bible in me

Wednesday April 14, 2021

It is he (God) the author of greatnesses that it is impossible to explore, of wonders so numerous that it is impossible to count them. Job 9. 10

Open my eyes, so that I may contemplate the wonders of your law ! Psalm 119. 18

Burn the Bible in me

Read without ulterior motive, the Bible never ceases to amaze with its variety, its richness, its depth, its topicality... It is a lake where the sky and my face are reflected, when I look at it. . It is a grandiose landscape where the horizon touches eternity when I look up. Free from all error, it makes the thoughts of God accessible to the greatest minds as well as to the simplest people (Psalm 119, 130).

In the Bible, I hear God say to me : "My son [my daughter], keep my words and hide my commandments within you. Keep my commandments and you will live - and my teaching, as the apple of your eye. Bind to you. Them on your fingers, write them on the tablet of your heart" (Proverbs 7. 1-3). He thus clearly asks me to engrave his words on my heart, seat of my personality, of my thoughts, as one burns a photo on a hard disk.

To get a good photo, it is not enough to press the shutter button of a device. You have to concentrate on the subject, frame it, make a good focus, take into account the background, the environment... as for reading the Bible. It will be profitable to me if it is done with great attention, in the confidence that God has something to say to me... therefore by being well disposed to listen to it, because if God speaks to me, it would be folly not to heed what he says ! “Put the Word into practice, and don't just listen to it, deceiving yourselves,” he said. By doing so, we are happy (James 1:22, 25).
