But I know that !

Job 19:25 - But I know that... my redeemer lives.

If only, like Job, we could have that assurance. It is the assurance of faith, that which has already seen what is not yet seen! We more or less all know the story of Job, what terrible trials he had to go through. I often insist on the importance of each word, here it is the word : "but". It introduces a statement that surpasses all that has just been said ! Unfortunately we often use the word "but" to distort, water down, weaken the tenor of our previous statements : "I am happy but... I have faith but... I believe in the power of God but...".

Do you understand what I'm trying to say ? Job suffers, suffers criticism, seems abandoned by his God... but he knows ! And we, when we are in a time of desert, of trial, of black hole, of discouragement... can we say, with the same assurance : "But I know" ? This word of faith defies all the contrary elements by saying : "You are not the finality because I know... I know that my God is more powerful than all the circumstances. I know he will give me victory sooner or later. I know that I will live and that I will not be swept away by this storm... I know !". Why ? Because He's alive, hallelujah. Death didn't get the better of Him. All the forces of hell had to let go. The whole universe prostrates at His feet !

This faith does not make you envy my beloved ? You know the Lord has no debt. This step of faith which rises above all that can "appear" in the physical world, will always be imputed to righteousness. Like Abraham who believed against all hope, he received justification as a “reward”. And if God Himself justifies us, who will condemn us ?

"But I know that...". Speak these words forcefully in the face of adversity. It's that kind of faith that moves mountains, that frees captives, that heals the sick, that saves mankind. I know, I know, I know... it can't be any other way! I know who is God ! I know that My Redeemer, My Savior, My own God... is alive today, yesterday and forever !

Good reflection.
