"Do not worry about anything, but pray and supplicate, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God, and the peace of God will keep your hearts and your thoughts in Christ, Jesus." Philippians 4.6-8
Anxiety - a feeling of discomfort or trouble - is a scourge that seems to affect thousands of people today. It is human nature to worry about difficult situations in the world or in one's personal life, but if we are not careful, the devil will do anything to make us worry more than reason. The anxiety is like a rocking chair - always moving but never leading us anywhere. So why do we yield to it ... and what good do we get from it ?
Too often, we complicate our prayers and diminish their effectiveness.
Anxiety physically exhausts us, yet many people persist in worrying instead of turning to God in prayer. Prayer is a powerful force and one of our best weapons against anxiety. It brings us into the very presence of Almighty God.
When you are worried and tense, it is always best to pray about your concerns rather than talking to others. Jesus spent a lot of time in prayer during his life on earth, showing us the example of a successful life.
We read in Luke 5: 15-16 : "Numerous crowds gathered to hear him and to be cured of their diseases. But he would retire to the desert and pray. "If Jesus needed to spend time in prayer to fulfill his vocation, I think I can affirm that this is also the case for us.
Jesus had given everything to God, even his reputation and his life. And because we know that God loves us and wants only the best for us, we can safely entrust our lives to Him. We do not need to explain all our problems to him - we can simply give them to him and ask him to take care of everything.
Too often, we complicate our prayers and diminish their effectiveness. It's time it changed ! When we worry and torment ourselves to find a better solution, we need to know that only God knows what is best for us.
In Matthew 11:29, Jesus said : "Accept that you will be led by me and come to my school ... Your life will find its fulfillment in rest." What a wonderful promise ! The Master of the universe aspires To spend time with you and to free yourself from the destructive habit of anxiety.
Action for Today
If you've got into the habit of worrying about virtually everything, it's time to change. You do not need to worry a minute longer. All you have to do is give up worrying and have faith in simple, confident prayer. It is an infallible remedy for anxiety !
