Choose well your friends

"A man sharpens the personality of his neighbor." Proverbs 27:17

One author said : "In 5 years you will always be the same, unless you change your relationships and readings."

According to Charles Townsend, to choose his friends, one must consider :

The best relationships are those where you know you are loved, free to be oneself ...

1. People who encourage you to follow God. "Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the personality of his neighbor" (Proverbs 27:17). Relationships are the tools God uses to sharpen us. Ask yourself : "Do I love the person I am in the presence of such a person ? Am I more open, more lovable, more honest ?" Choose the people who make you better.

2. People who give you strength. When you are emptied, you need to replenish energy at all levels. Surround yourself with friends who listen, encourage and support you.

3. People who allow you to be yourself. "The friend loves at all times ..." (Proverbs 17:17). The best relationships are those in which one knows oneself loved, free to be oneself, genuine and honest. A friendship where you can be true is a source of comfort.

4. People who help you grow in faith. You need friends who encourage you to pray, read the Bible and help you to discern what is important in your life. Paul tells us to act as one body : "The whole body, well ordered and coherent, thanks to all the joints which strongly support it, derives its increase in the measure that suits each part, and builds itself In love" (Ephesians 4:16).

Action for Today

Do not try to do it all alone. Go to those who will hold out your hand to you in return.
