Collaborators ?

2 Timothy 4:10 and 14 - For Demas has forsaken me... Alexander the blacksmith did me great harm.

You will agree with me that Paul was a good servant of God. Admittedly, he was a demanding man at times of his collaborators, but his eyes were fixed on the breadth of the vision and the excellence necessary to make it come true. Many men and women worked alongside him. If several of them were a precious help, several also let him down, worse some demolished the work done and made him the worst miseries.

This was true in Paul's day, and even more so in our day. True commitment has become a very scarce commodity, and many move from servant to servant, ministry to ministry... without really embracing the vision and striving to excel in it. Others are looking for self-fulfillment and when the promotion is not on time, they get off the ship. Is there a need to also speak of all those who are in the service of the devil and who infiltrate communities and others with the sole aim of destroying ?

Susceptibility also means that too often frustration creeps in easily, creating a "pocket" of bitterness. We cannot, even in the service of God, work together without the personalities “rubbing against each other”. I would even say that it is a good thing because it can cause a change of character to salvation, or at the very least a beneficial questioning. In these conditions, why do we so easily forget the commitments made ?

The answer probably lies in not realizing that you are committed to God. If we are working with such and such a servant or such ministry, it is certainly that there was initially a conviction of God to do so. Then the human aspect has taken over and any excuse is good for disengaging. It hurts the servant or the ministry, but it is above all the work of the Lord Himself that suffers.

Beloved, let us not so easily give up our place for the "siren song." Let us stand firm where God wants us. Let us learn to work together, to love one another, to excel in the work for the greater glory of our wonderful Lord.
