Come discuss !

Isaiah 1:18 - Come and let us argue, saith the Eternal.

As we often say, the Lord deeply loves spending time talking with us. We have so little awareness of the relationship He seeks with us. If we could imagine it, we would seek to upset our “agendas” so as not to miss these moments.

God's invitation to his people in Isaiah is actually an invitation to reflect on their conviction. The people were overwhelmed with guilt because of their sins. He saw himself black, dirty, crimson. This feeling prompted them to flee rather than seek the presence of God. What a strange belief ! It was to flee the remedy, the solution, the change... What a beautiful invitation from the One who is holy and who has the power to communicate this holiness.

You may have heard this expression : “If I admit this, he will kill me”. This is probably true for a world without love, but where there is love, acknowledgment of fault is the first step towards liberation. One thing is certain, the Lord invites you by saying : “Come, and let us discuss this problem together”. Not only does He not reject us, but He gives us an extraordinary promise : “If you are like scarlet, I will make you whiter than snow”.

Beloveds, there are still convictions in our hearts that need, not just to be changed, but to be literally pulverized. This will be possible if we make the decision to “plead” them before our Lord. He, with the power of His truth, will enable us to understand the ridiculousness of these beliefs and will lead us on the road to freedom.
