Common joy

When she found it, she called her friends and neighbors, and said : Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost. Luke 15.9

Among my professional interventions, an unusual event marked me. That day, the phone rang in the early afternoon. A woman explained to me the loss of her wedding ring. She had forgotten it on the edge of the bathtub. Her research remaining fruitless, she deduced that the ring had fallen into the siphon. Time to gather my tools, I knocked on the door five minutes later. The husband took me inside. Behind, his wife was still red with annoyance. It was the drama, the gold jewel represented more sentimentally than its financial value... After removing the access hatch, equipped with my headlamp to light me up, I dismantled the siphon. Behind my back, pairs of eyes were waiting... Bling, bling, the ring came out through a hole and fell into my hand ! Proudly I handed it to Madame. The husband smiled at me. Me too, I was smiling ! I still remember this common joy that animated us around a coffee offered...

In these stories told by Jesus, the sadness of perdition gives way to the happiness of reunion. This happy image of salvation which crosses the heart of the repentant and which rises to heaven to embrace the angels, is luminous ! Seeking and finding God is a joy that surpasses all our misfortunes...

15.1 All the publicans and people of bad life approached Jesus to hear him.

15.2 And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying : This man welcomes men of bad life, and eats with them.

15.3 But he told them this parable :

15.4 What man of you, having a hundred sheep, and losing one, does not leave my ninety-nine in the wilderness to go after the lost one, until does he find her ?

15.5 When he finds her, he joyfully puts her on his shoulders,

15.6 and when he returned home he called his friends and neighbors and said to them : Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.

15.7 Likewise, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.

15.8 Or what woman, if she has ten coins, and loses one, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully, until she finds it?

15.9 When she found it, she called her friends and neighbors, and said : Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost.

15.10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is more joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.
