No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. John 6.44
Before they even call on me, I will answer them; before they even finish speaking, I will answer them. Isaiah 65. 24
Conversion of Sabina Wurmbrand (2)
Of Jewish origin, Sabina W. was shocked when her husband converted to Christianity. Yet the day he was baptized, she became a Christian. Let's listen to his testimony :
“One evening, coming home from a prayer meeting, Richard took my hands in his and said :
- I have submitted my heart to Christ, and soon I will be baptized.
This news was beyond what I could bear. I locked myself alone for hours in a room and decided that the day he was baptized I would take my own life. That day, I locked my door and threw myself on the floor, shaking with sobs. A frightening void, a desert of terror seized me. In my despair I cried out : - Jesus, I don't want to come to you, I don't want Richard to be yours, I can't stand it anymore !
The force of my tears put me in a state of shock. I stayed there for a long time, stretched out, sobbing. Then gradually, calm returned, something in me was transformed.
Life began to be reborn. When Richard returned from his baptism, which had taken place in another city, I went to wait for him at the station with flowers. What joy for him ! That night we stayed awake for a long time talking about everything that had happened. I had slowly moved towards this change under the action of a force of silent goodness that I had not understood ; far from enslaving me, it opened my heart to a new world."
