Lord, you examine me and you know me, you know when I sit down and when I stand up, you can see my thought from afar. You know when I walk and when I lie down, and all my ways are familiar to you. Psalm 139.1-3
Counted, weighed, divided
Who has not been surprised, while surfing the Internet, to immediately receive an advertisement related to an article read a few minutes earlier ? By "cookies", data recorded on the web as a result of our research, our activities and tracked. Their goal : to then offer us personalized advertising. Here we are, uncomfortable, spied on, as if our personal lives were spread out in front of everyone. Our whole life ? In front of all ? Probably not, but God sees everything we do, he knows all our thoughts and knows where we are. Our life is for him an open book (Psalm 139).
The Bible speaks of King Belshazzar who, during an orgy, desecrated the precious vessels of the temple, the house of God (Daniel 5). Suddenly, in the eyes of the whole class, a hand appears out of nowhere and writes on the wall : "counted, weighed, divided". His life was weighed in the divine scale, and God's judgment fell on him for he disregarded his warnings. That same night, he will be killed by his enemies.
To us too, one day, God will ask what we have done with his gifts : our faculties, our goods, good health... And above all, how we received his Son Jesus, sent to save us, all of us. sinners. Let us accept the free salvation he offers us through faith in his Son, and learn to live for our Savior !
