I say to the Eternal : My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust! Psalm 91.2

“On March 18 at 1:30 a.m., the wind blew: total weakness, extreme fatigue, respiratory distress, cough, pain, emergency department then admission to infectiology. My body struggles as it can because many drugs are forbidden to me. What I do best is sleep 18-20 hours a day. Praying is difficult, I have no more strength. So I turn it over to God, asking him that the church take over.

I spend dark hours, not knowing if I will get out of it. The fourth night, I feel myself leaving, as if my soul is detaching from my body. God doesn't ask me if I'm ready or not, but he tells me : "If I decide, I'll take you back." But God who gives me grace has heard the many prayers.

The return home is just as laborious. The slope is long to go up. Days become weeks and weeks become months. Of course, I would like things to be back to normal quickly, but every day God reminds me of my vulnerability. But my weakness becomes strength when I realize how much God, in his faithfulness and his grace, is watching. For me, strength is also learning humility, accepting my limits and deepening my attachment to Him. As the psalmist expresses it, faith does not protect us from anything, but lets us know that in all circumstances, God keeps us in his love."

Proposed reading : Psalm 91.

91.1 He who dwells under the shelter of the Most High rests in the shadow of the Almighty.

91.2 I say to the Eternal : My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust !

91.3 For it is he who delivers you from the snare of the fowler, from the pestilence and from its ravages.

91.4 He will cover you with his feathers, and you will find refuge under his wings ; his fidelity is a shield, and a breastplate.

91.5 You will not fear the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day,

91.6 nor the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor the contagion that strikes at noonday.

91.7 Let a thousand fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, you will not be stricken ;

91.8 Only with your eyes will you look, and you will see the retribution of the wicked.

91.9 For you are my refuge, O Eternal ! You make the Most High your retreat.

91.10 No misfortune will befall you, no plague will approach your tent.

91.11 For he will command his angels to keep you in all your ways ;

91.12 They will carry you on their hands, lest your foot strike against a stone.

91.13 You will walk on the lion and on the asp, you will tread on the lion cub and the dragon.

91.14 Since he loves me, I will deliver him ; I will protect him, since he knows my name.

91.15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him ; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and I will glorify him.

91.16 I will satisfy him with long days, and I will show him my salvation.
