Culpable negligence
How shall we escape by neglecting such a great salvation ? Hebrews 2.3
What is more upsetting, more frustrating when you give a gift that you have carefully chosen to someone you love in order to please them, than the fact that they refuse it ? You have put all your heart into the choice of the gift, and your approach is not understood.
In this text of the Letter to the Hebrews it is a question of a magnificent gift that God wishes to offer us, men and women whom he has created. By their disobedience, our first parents turned away from God their Creator. Driven out of the Garden of Eden, they lost the benefits of the tree of life. (Genesis 3.22)
Today, God desires to restore this relationship with each of us through the blood of his son Jesus Christ, who died on the cross. The apostle Paul wrote to the Christians of Rome : God proves his love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5.8)
How can we escape the judgment of God if we do not attribute any value to the step of love of God and the sacrifice of his Son Jesus Christ ?

Proposed reading : Letter to the Hebrews, chapter 12, verses 25 to 29.
12.25 Beware of refusing to hear the speaker ; for if those did not escape who refused to hear him who spoke the oracles on earth, how much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him who speaks from heaven,
12.26 he, whose voice then shook the earth, and who now has made this promise : Once again I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.
12.27 These words : again point to the changing of things shaken, as being made for a time, that things that cannot be moved may stand.
12.28 Wherefore, having received a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us show our gratitude by worshiping God pleasingly with godliness and with fear,
12.29 for our God is also a consuming fire.
