Cultivate humility ! (2)

“See what love the Father has shown us so that we may be called children of God ! And we are !” 1 John 3.1

How does God think of us ? The Bible tells us : “God chose us before the creation of the world to be holy and without blemish before Him. In His love, He predestinated us to be His adopted children through Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 1.4-5). Notice "Before Him He predestined us..." His decision was not the result of a hasty decision, but of a mature and immutable choice. Furthermore, God considers us to be righteous and holy, since we have placed our trust in Jesus : “If anyone does nothing but believes in him who declares just the ungodly, his faith is counted to him as righteousness” (Romans 4.5). And we became citizens of the kingdom of love of His Son : “He delivered us from the power of darkness and carried us into the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we are redeemed forgiven of our sins” (Colossians 1.13-14). Pride causes us to ignore how great and good God is. While humility encourages us to express our gratitude to God. The world glorifies the earth as a “foster mother”, instead of exalting the Creator who formed the earth and keeps it, despite human pollution and the countless mistakes of the past, in perfect working order. To forget all that God has done and continues to do for us is to imitate the mad behavior of the Israelites wanting to return to Egypt when they were a stone's throw from entering the land "dripping with milk and honey." On the contrary, let us imitate Jesus who showed the deepest humility and did not rebel against the will of His Father despite the physical and moral suffering that this meant (Philippians 2:5-11). A pastor pointed out that the narrow path that leads up to the Father is paved only with cobblestones of humility ! It's up to us to choose the right path !
