Day 9 : That your reign come and your will whether ridge in my life, and for the mine !

Jesus continues with "Thy kingdom come ; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. "

There is no kingdom without a king. It must first be realized that in praying this part of the verse we proclaim that Jesus is King, and consequently also the King of our life.

Is he really ? Or did we put it in our pocket, to do what we want ? And that goes much further than we think.

In praying this, we tell him that we no longer want to do our own will, but his own. This automatically implies that we must at least make the effort to know the will of God for our lives.

Is that really the case for us ? Let us read 2 Cor 5:15 : "... he died for all, that those who live may live no longer for themselves, but for him that died and was resurrected for them. Do we live for him ? Ready to do what he wants us to do ? To go where he wants to send us? Even if it means getting out of our own 'comfort zone' ?

This should be the basis for every disciple of Jesus. And it is a prayer that we can proclaim on all the grounds of our lives. Let's look at some points, in order of priority.

If we are married, first comes our couple. Men must love their wives and pray for them. They can 'lift the shield of faith' over their heads, protecting them from any interference from the enemy. Vice versa, wives may, with a heart according to the will of the Lord, pray for their spouses, that Jesus, who is their Head, gives them wisdom, direction, and God's thought to properly lead the couple and the home.

Which brings us to the next point: the home in general. Parents must pray for their children that they find the way with God, and that they may return to the purpose and will of God. Obviously, we can also pray for the extended family. Often, unfortunately, not all of our family is in the Lord, but we can pray that God will lead them and reveal themselves to them.

In the days to come, we will see other aspects of praying "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as in heaven."

"Lord, I want your kingdom to come and your will be done in my life. I submit to you, you are the King of my life ! Help me to make you the number one priority in my life. In the name of Jesus, amen !"
