Deal with your problems (1)

“Do not be afraid or be frightened before this large crowd, for it will not be you who will fight, it will be God.” 2 Chronicles 20.15

Each of us has to face various problems every day concerning our finances, our relationships, our family, our career, our health, our mind, or even our spiritual life. This is not surprising since we have been warned that the Christian life is a continual battle. How to face these difficulties and overcome them ?

1- We must first identify the “enemy” responsible. Many believe that the enemy is either Satan or someone who seeks to weaken us, for example to take our job, our money or the affection of a loved one. But too often the enemy is within ourselves. We have not learned to react to adverse circumstances in the right way. It is less the problem that weakens us than our reaction to it. A different attitude will make the difference between bending the knees and becoming a conqueror.

2- We must accept that we are not capable of dominating the situation by our own forces. “It is not by your power or by your own strength that you will accomplish your task, but by My Spirit” (Zechariah 4:6). Rick Warren wrote : "The only person God can't help is the one who thinks they don't need any help !" Let us keep our eyes fixed on the Lord, for only He can save us. We need the presence of His Spirit within us every day to advance victoriously in the Christian life.

3- We must bring every problem to the feet of Jesus. Nothing is too small or too important for Him. Too often, praying is our last resort ! In the Old Testament King Jehoshaphat found himself in a dramatic circumstance. Knowing that he was unable to resist the immense army that was marching against Israel, he prayed : “We are powerless before this great crowd that comes to attack us and we do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You” (2 Chronicles 20. 12). And God answered him immediately : “Do not be afraid and do not be frightened in front of this large crowd, because it will not be you who will fight, it will be God.” (verse 15). This is the only way to face our difficulties with peace of mind !
